As we celebrated the month of love this February, Celltone wants to remind you to love your hair too. Ethnic hair is extremely fragile and therefore needs all the TLC it can get.
Ethnic hair tends to be fragile, porous, dry and prone to damage, partly because the coiled structure of ethnic hair prevents oil from spreading evenly through the hair. Caring for rough, dry hair requires a regimen that adds oil to the hair, while minimising damage and preserving the hair’s natural oils.
Try using a hair treatment product at least once a week and make sure that it is rich in natural oils such as shea butter and/or olive oil. You can also massage a light, leave-in conditioning oil into your hair daily – use a product containing jojoba, shea butter, royal jelly or coconut oil. Avoid products containing mineral oil or petroleum jelly, which clog the pores and dry the hair.
Celltone Advanced Hair Treatment contains a rich blend of naturally derived oils that help maintain the condition of the hair, for example Castor Oil, Shea Butter, Coconut Oil, Argan Oil, Avocado Oil, Jojoba Oil and of course Celltone’s unique blend of Black Seed Oil. It also contains Guarana and Caffeine which stimulate blood supply to the scalp.
It is also advisable to be careful when styling ethnic hair – always try to use a large-tooth comb, because small teeth can break the hair and always use a natural bristle brush, which is gentler and less damaging to hair.
Limit use of blow dryers and curling irons, which damage the hair.
One should also massage the scalp often to stimulate oil production.
Prevention and protection is key – protect your hair by wearing a scarf or cap at night, or sleep on a satin pillowcase. The friction of the hair rubbing on the pillow when you move during the night may cause broken hair and split ends.
Trim hair regularly to remove dry, split ends. Many stylists recommend a trim every six to eight weeks, but close-cropped hair may need a trim as often as every four weeks.
